5. 마이클의 5분 영어 과외 5편 휴대폰에 관련된 표현
안녕하세요 여러분 Englishinkorean.com에 오신걸 환영합니다. 저는 마이클 이라고 하구요. 오늘의 주제는 일단 청취자 여러분 여기는 물론 시청자라고 해야되는데 원래 제가 해왔던 팟캐스트 청취자한테서 질문 몇가지 들어왔으니까 그런 것 좀 살펴보고 지난번에 배운 내용을 복습하고 그리고 새로운 내용도 보려고 하는데요. 일단 우리 지난번에 배운 표현부터 복습할까요? 땡땡이 치다 수업에 땡땡이 치고 다른데 놀러가는거는 ditch class 라고 했죠? so, let's ditch class. I ditched class yesterday. 그렇게 쓰시면 되고, 그리고 친구한테서 버림을 당했을 때 따돌림을 당하고 친구들이 나를 따돌렸을 때 쓰는 말도 ditch 입니다. My friends ditched me and went to 보령머드축제 wherever, my friends ditched me and went to 롯데월드. 그렇게 쓰는 거고, 그리고 skip class 도 가능하고. 수업에 땡땡이 치는거 I skipped class 도 가능하고 play hooky 도 이라는 숙어 있어요. 그런데 조금 옛날식 입니다. 우리 어머님 가끔 쓰시지만 젊은 사람 거의 안쓰는 것 같아요. play hooky라는 표현. OK, so, 오늘 표현은 일단 휴대폰이랑 관련된 말입니다. 핸드폰이랑 관련된 말. 영어로 일단 cell phone 제일 많이 쓰죠 미국에서. Where is my cell phone? 또는 I lost my cell phone yesterday. 이렇게 쓰고 요금제 라고 하는 거는 어 service plan 이라고 할 수 있어요. 그리고 billing plan 도 많이 써요. so, 계획할 때 plan 입니다. so, what billing plan are you on? 이라고 물어볼 수 있어요. so, what billing plan are you on? 데이터 사용 무제한 플랜 이라고 할 수 있잖아요. 그러면 the unlimited data plan 그래서 요금제 영어로 plan 이라고 하구요. 그리고 배터리 건전지 다 나갔어요. I'm almost out of batteries. 이라고 해요. 그런데 중요한 것은 I'm almost out of battery. 안쓰는 것 같아요. 그 표현 거의 못 들어 봤고 거의 항상 batteries 라고 해요. I'm almost out of batteries. My battery died. 는 가능해요.so, 죽었어. 한국어처럼. 휴대폰 죽었어. 그러면 그 표현 쓸 때, my battery died. 또는 my phone died.이라고 하시면 돼요. 한국어하고 비슷하죠? my phone died. so, yeaterday when I was in the middle of talking to my dad on the phone, my phone died. 또는 my battery died, so, my phone died, my battery died. 또는 my cell phone ran out of batteries. 그렇게 말씀하시면 되고. 그리고 혹시 지금 통화하고 있는데 배터리 거의 다 나가서 끊길지도 몰라 이 표현 하고싶으면은 cut off 끊기다 라는 것은 cut off 라고 하시면 돼요. 수동태죠. so, 끊겼어요. 내가 끊었을 때 hung up,이죠 so, I hung up the phone 이라고 하는데, 끊겼을 때, 의도적으로 한 거 아니라 끊겼을 때 쓰는 거는 got cut off , so, we were talking but we got cut off because my phone died. 그렇게 하시면 돼요. 쉽죠? 그래서 어제 ,예를 들어서, 전화 끊은 거 아니었어요. 전화 배터리 나갔으니까 그랬어요. 그러면 그말은 I didn't hang up on you yesterday. My phone just ran out of batteries.라고 하시면 돼요. OK, 비슷한 맥락에서, 전원선 있잖아요, power cables 라고 해요. power cord 또는 power cables 이라고 하는데, 꽂는거 꽂아주시겠어요 라고 말할 때 Would you plug that in for me? 충전기 charger, would you plug in my charger please? 하시면 돼요. 빼는 건 unplug 입니다. Would you please unplug my charger? 꽂는 거 to plug in 이고 빼는 거 unplug 입니다. so, please unplug my charger, please unplug the power cable. 그리고 꽂아달라고 할 때 please plug in my power cable. 이렇게 쓰는 거에요. so, 오늘 주제 그렇게 휴대폰, 전자제품이랑 관련된 용어였습니다.
